If you want to know how far the South by Southwest Music Festival has strayed from its anti-corporate, indie rock roots, look no further than a show by Justin Timberlake.

Celebrities have been speaking out and blasting TMZ for its reporting about Lil Wayne. Yesterday, the breaking news outlet shocked the entertainment world by stating that Wayne was in critical condition at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles. They went so far as to claim that Wayne was in an induced coma and his last death rites were being read as doctors awaited for his mother to arrive and make final decisions on what to do with her son (which they after deleted from the article).
Members of Wayne’s camp, like Birdman and Mack Maine, shot down TMZ‘s claims and told fans that the rapper was “recovering” and Weezy himself after confirmed on Twitter that he was doing just fine.
Birdman tweeted, “My son is in good spirit..feelin much betta…be home soon,” but YMCMB prez Mack Maine had a few choice words for TMZ, criticizing the site for what he deemed incorrect reporting. “We will be releasing an official statement shortly but dont believe the nonsense about comas and tubes to breathe…that’s false!!” and “#F—TMZ.”
Wayne’s daughter Reginae took to Instagram to share her thoughts, writing, “Don’t listen to The Lies, I swear there all lies TMZ you a fool 18h” while her mother, Wayne’s ex-wife Toya Carter, added, “It would be a much better world if people would stop and think before they spread RUMORS.”
T.I. also threw in, “Just holla’d @my Lil bruh Tunechi…& he skraight! TMZ some f— n—-z for reporting that hoe-ass-sh–!!! That man daughter is like mines. That sh– surely got his mama hurtin, his kids hurtin, & he got true to da game patnas like me & Othas who ready to RIDE bout all da f— sh–. … #nowthankitsagamen—-!!!”
“I was talking to my product manager,” recalls Rowland, who’s currently working in Los Angeles. “I said I wanted people to know that this is the record, the sound I¹ve been working toward… that here I am. And she said, that’s the title. It just connected with my heart & the music as well. It stands for everything I’ve gone through & thought approximately for this record as a woman. It’s very strong.”
Kelly’s current single “Motivation” is her second biggest hit peaking at #3 on Billboard’s R&B/Hip-Hop chart & #31 on the Hot 100. Kelly is collaborating with many producers & songwriters for the album, including Dr. Luke, Stargate, RedOne, Tricky Stewart & Rodney Jerkins.
Beyoncé, who is on this week’s cover of Billboard Magazine & is receiving the Artist of the Millennium Award at this year’s Billboard Music Awards revealed that, 4, is the title of her fourth studio album. Beyoncé explained what significance that number holds to her:
Unlike Kelly, Beyoncé’s current single “Run The World (Girls)” is bombing on the charts peaking only at #33 on the Hot 100. The video was originally set to premiere today yet has since been delayed. The album will include contributions from The-Dream, Ne-Yo, Diplo, Switch & many more. No release date has been given for the new album.“We all have special numbers in our lives, & ’4′ is that for me. It’s the day I was born. My mother’s birthday, & a lot of my friends’ birthdays, are on the fourth; April 4 is my wedding date.”
“At the time I was doing my U.K. album, I was really into more dance-inspired music, which is astonishing & so much pleasant for Europe. For the U.S., I wanted to go back to my roots where I started, a little bit more urban sounding ’cause that’s still a very huge part of me as well, & I wanted to make sure I wove that into the album.”
Look out for Nicole when she hits the stage to perform her new single “Right There” with 50 Cent on American Idol May 19th & this fall she will co-host “The X Factor” on FOX.
The official third single from, Femme Fatale, is the Max Martin produced “I Wanna Go.” BreatheHeavy.com was the first to announce it would be the next single, & sources tell me that is 100% true. The music video will be shot in Los Angeles on May 25-26. Jive is moreover looking to release “(Drop Dead) Beautiful” or “Big Fat Bass (feat. will.i.am)” as the albums fourth single.
UK rapper, Tinie Tempah is getting ready to release his debut album, Disc-Overy in the US on May 17th. The first US single, “Written In The Stars” has become a hit for him, so far peaking at #12 on the Hot 100 & #10 on the pop chart. Now he’s approximately to release the 2nd US single, “Till I’m Gone” featuring Wiz Khalifa. The song is one of 3 new tracks that will be featured on the US version of the LP. Check it out after the jump…
