A Chat w/ Casey Veggies (Video)

Casey Veggies is the epitome of an artist that never stops working. The 19 year old Los Angeles native has been making music since the age of 14 and has only strived to become better and better since, and he has indeed. Since our first interview with him back in October 2010, Casey has graduated high school – he was missing class when we first met FYI – toured the US, featured in an HTC campaign, released a deluxe edition of his critically acclaimed project Sleeping In Class, signed on with Roc Nation for management, headlined his first sold out show in his LA stomping grounds, and the list goes on. We’re not only blown away by the moves Young Veggies has been making, but we’re proud. As one of the emcees at the forefront of this movement out of the west coast, Casey Veggies is poised to carry LA on his back.

While in Miami, I sat down with Casey to talk about tour life and being the supporting act, performing at DC’s first annual trillectro festival, what branding means to him, what exactly is “Y.N.M.,” Young Jeezy tweeting lyrics from his track “Verified,” his plans for the rest of 2012, & more. – Ashley

A (2)Dope Contest: MUSCLE MUSIC w/ Donwill of Tanya Morgan

After Don showed me yesterday’s RAoF entry, he joked about making a beat and using it as an actual song. Well…

I don’t remember the exact conversation but somewhere between email or text while me and Meka were laughing at this video I kinda said “challenge the producers that hit up your site to make a beat with this shit and ill judge the submissions. Hell I’ll rap over the winning beat.” And Meka being the champion of fuckery that he is was like “ok”. Which brings us here today.

It’s simple, y’all submit beats made with the sounds on this video, we judge the entries and announce the winner via podcast and I’ll make a rap song out of that one. I’m sure Meka will have a wonderful time sliding it in his set between “Crispy Chicken” by Mary J Blige and any number of the Lil B songs he has on deck.

Who’s in?

PS – if you niggas could see the other conversations me and this man have… son…. EPIC.

All aspiring fooligans, you can wither leave your concoction in the c-section (don’t worry if it gets “moderated,” I’ll still be able to see them) or hit the Twitters of either myself or Donwill by no after than and next Friday, September 7th. I can’t wait to hear this shit…

Joey Bada$$ & Pro Era – ProCake$

It randomly cuts off at the end, but… Joey and his crew take MF DOOM’s “Hoe Cakes” for a BEast Coast ride.

Koncept – It’s Amazin’ (Video)

Directed by Photo Rob for The7Line

We all whenever baseball season starts, you can pretty much count the New York Mets out of the pennant chase by the opening pitch. Don’t tell their fans that, however, as they roll with the team throughout it all. Clothing company The 7Line asked the Brown Bag AllStars to do the next Mets anthem, and here is that end result. Gotta love that pride. You can cop the song here, if you’d like.

The Wu-Massacre Comic Book That Never Was

As you know Raekwon, Ghostface Killah and Method Man dropped a collaborative project called Wu-Massacre, with the cover art and (at the time) a comic book mini-series done by designer Alex Haldi and illustrator legend Chris Bachalo. The graphic novel never materialized, but now some of the pictures have hit the Internets. Head to ANIMAL for more shots of the whole thing.
